How To Change Line Weight In Autocad
Issue:
When plotting to PDF, printing to a physical printer, or publishing from AutoCAD, object lineweights display thicker, thinner, darker, or lighter than displayed in the cartoon.
Causes:
There are several causes for this behavior, including:
- Plot lineweights is enabled.
- Scale lineweights is enabled.
- Lineweights in the drawing are gear up to a thick width.
- A lineweight override is gear up for specific objects.
- Drawing is set to plot by color.
- Quality of the PDF existence plotted.
- Lineweights or transparency settings in the plot manner table (CTB or STB).
- Default setting for lines is non prepare to 0.
Solution:
Try 1 or more of the following to resolve the issue:
Lineweight display looks different in AutoCAD from the hard copy or plot
This might be due to lineweight brandish being deactivated:
- TypeLWDISPLAY in the AutoCAD command line to toggle the lineweight display.

Check that the layer is using the correct lineweight
- Check the used layer for the component in Property Palette.

- Check which dimstyle is used for the dimension which has thick lines.
- Enter DIMSTYLE in the AutoCAD control line.

- Some dimensions might need to be created new.
Select a PDF plotter or settings with higher plot quality
Plot using the AutoCAD PDF (Loftier Quality) plotter or adjust the setting of the selected driver for highest quality plot.
Lineweights or transparency in the plot way table
Follow 1 or more than of these procedures:
- Ensure that anybody is using the same version of the CTB file. See: To install plot style files (CTB and STB) into AutoCAD.
Note: It might also be possible to set a mutual path for the CTB file, for example using a network folder.
- Set the plotted lineweight and transparency in the desired plot style table (CTB). Besides meet: To Prepare the Plotted Lineweights.
- TypePLOT on the command line.
- Press the button adjacent to the Plot Way Tabular array to edit the CTB file. This case edits theGrayscale.ctbfile.
- In the Form View Tab, edit the Lineweight for colour 1 as desired. For example: set it to 0.7000 mm.
- Click Save As to brand a new Plot Fashion Tabular array.
- Name the new Plot Way Table file. For example, Grayscale_edited.ctb.
- Press Save and Shut.
- Press ESC to leave the plot layout window.
- TypePLOT again and change the Plot Style Table to Grayscale_edited.ctb
- Click OK.
Line thickness settings in the PDF viewer
Follow any of these solutions:
- Ensure that anybody is using the same PDF reader software (Adobe Reader, Foxit Reader, Google Chrome, Microsoft Border, etc.).
- Select a PDF plotter or settings with higher plot quality.
- Attempt deactivating or activating both these settings, according to the used PDF viewer:
- Smooth line art.
- Enhance sparse lines.
Cheque the settings of the Default lineweight value for Polylines.
- Type LWDEFAULT to command line and Enter.
- Change the value to 0.
